Why American Health is Declining and What You Can Do About It

One of my primary goals is to empower you to take control of your health. We live in a time when it’s clear that the food industry, healthcare system, and even politics – don’t always serve our best interests. However, this doesn’t mean we’re powerless. Today, I’ll be diving into why chronic disease is so prevalent, the decline in food quality in the U.S., and how political decisions are interfering with our health choices. Don’t worry, though—I’ll also share practical advice on how you can protect yourself and your family, including some budget-friendly tips for switching to an organic and low-tox lifestyle.

The American Health Crisis

Earlier this week, Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. hosted the American Health & Nutrition: A Second Opinion in Washington D.C., bringing together doctors, nutritionists, and health advocates like Dr. Casey Means, Jillian Michaels, and Dr. Jordan Peterson. The roundtable discussed hard truths about America’s health crisis and the broken nature of our food system. It was a powerful conversation highlighting just how serious the situation has become in the U.S.

A major concern, specific to Americans, is the alarming rise in chronic illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, infertility, and asthma. Despite spending more on healthcare than any other nation, the U.S. still ranks as one of the sickest populations in the world. This crisis stems in part from our healthcare system, which tends to prioritize pharmaceutical development over true wellness. Special interests—like those from chemical companies—also have undue influence.

A key moment from the round table was when Vani Hari and Jason Karp compared two boxes of Fruit Loops—one from the U.S. and one from Canada. The Canadian version used natural dyes like fruits and vegetables, while the American one was artificially bright, packed with dyes linked to hyperactivity and other health issues. Shockingly, these dyes are banned in many other countries, but remain legal here. What are other nations seeing that the U.S. isn’t?

Why American Health Is Declining – Political Challenges and the Disconnect from Nature

Unfortunately, politics also plays a significant role in our nation’s health. While the round table itself was non-partisan, the conversation was mostly picked up by conservative media outlets. This is unfortunate because our health shouldn’t be a divisive issue—it should unite us all.

I’ve noticed that many people still trust the government to protect them and might not question what’s being allowed in our food, water, or homes. Others place unwavering trust in the medical system and doctors. However, from my own healing journey, I’ve learned that trusting our bodies and nature can often yield deeper healing than mainstream approaches.

Living in alignment with natural, holistic practices brings us closer to our innate ability to heal. You don’t have to follow the conventional path—there’s so much more available when we make intentional, thoughtful choices about our health.

The Journey Towards Health

My own journey began when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis in 2005. As I started learning about the toxins in our food, water, and environment, I became angry. Why hadn’t anyone told me about these things before? It wasn’t easy to change, but once I did, I never looked back. I’ve since raised my son in a low-tox, organic lifestyle, and our family thrives on healthy homemade meals, reduced chemical exposure, and preventive care like acupuncture and herbs.

I know many people think this lifestyle is elitist or expensive, but that’s simply not true. With the right knowledge, it’s possible to live a healthy lifestyle without breaking the bank.

How You Can Take Back Control

Now, if this sounds overwhelming, don’t worry. There’s plenty you can do to protect your health, even on a budget. While I didn’t share specific steps in the video, I have created a free checklist to help guide you in making the changes you need for a healthier life. You can download it HERE.

Free offer for an organic lifestyle checklist that helps families make shifts at home to reduce toxins and lead a healthier, empowered life.

In addition, I recommend reading my older blog post, [A Simple Guide to An Affordable Organic Lifestyle], where I outline budget-friendly ways to switch to organic food and low-tox products. I’ll link it [here] for you to reference.

Final Thoughts: Trust Your Own Healing Journey

As you begin making these changes, I encourage you to trust your own journey and form deeper connections with nature and the Divine. True healing is possible, but it starts with the small decisions you make each day. By focusing on reducing your toxic load and nourishing your body with whole, clean food, you’re taking the first steps toward reclaiming your health.
