Traditional Chinese Medicine

shonishin acupressure pediatric kids acupuncture

Shonishin acupressure is great for kids!

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a complete system of health care.  In TCM, we work with the Qi (vital energy) and Blood of each individual.  Qi and Blood should be flowing freely in our channels for us to experience good health.  If Qi & Blood are stuck somewhere in the channels, then pain, weakness, or disease can arise.

We use the 5 main branches of TCM to balance Qi & Blood:

  1. Acupuncture or Acupressure (I incorporate essential oils too)
  2. Herbs
  3. Dietetics/Nutrition
  4. Qi gong (translated as “life force skill”, energy work similar to Reiki)
  5. Tuina (“push/pull”) massage

During an Acupuncture treatment, I use very thin, sterile, disposable stainless steel needles on specific points along a body channels to either tonify Qi & Blood or disperse them.  Most of the time, you’ll barely feel the needles.  They stay in for 15-30 minutes in adults, but only very briefly for babies & young children.

That’s right, kids do great with TCM too!  Usually, acupressure, shonishin (Japanese acupressure, pictured above), and other non-invasive techniques work just fine!

I’m currently only seeing children and expecting moms on an OUTCALL basis only (at client’s home) in Redwood City, San Carlos, Atherton, Woodside, and Menlo Park.  If you’re pregnant or have a child who needs support, please contact me so we can talk about working together.
