Sure, you could pick up some bath bombs at the drug store. But it’s hard to find natural ingredients which are necessary if you’re wanting them to be health-promoting.
The price of store-bought bath bombs can really increase your grocery bill too. Trust me, I know, since my son always begs for them when we go to Whole Foods!
DIY bath bombs are a much better option since you can control all of that and also customize the desired therapeutic effect with high quality essential oils. Read on to learn how to make them, or see how my son and I do it in the video below.

Essential Oil Bath Bomb Tutorial
First, you’ll need to get all your supplies and ingredients ready. This can get pretty messy, so also make sure you have a clear space free of clutter.
Next, measure out the dry ingredients in a medium bowl. Whisk well to break up any lumps.
Mix liquids together. You’ll need to be very precise with the amount of water since it can activate the citric acid and affect the way the bombs keep their shape! (Since making the video, I’ve learned that rubbing alcohol is a better option since it won’t activate the citric acid. It may also help the bombs dry quicker.)
Let me know if you’d like suggestions of which essential oil combinations to use for your bath bomb recipe!
You’ll add the wet ingredients to the dry slowly as you continuously stir, until the mixture resembles wet sand. Then pack gently into each side of the bomb molds with some of the mixture bulging outward. Press together and leave in the mold for one minute.
Tap the mold on every side and gently twist to release the bath bomb. Let the bombs sit out (I put them on parchment paper) for 24 hours to dry. Or you can speed up the process by putting them in a dehydrator.
Simply drop them gently into the tub when you’re ready to use them! My bombs didn’t have a lot of fizz, but I loved how they disbursed the oils in the tub. This is a very moisturizing mixture that left my skin feeling super soft!
I would love to hear how the recipe worked out for you. Please leave a comment below with any questions! Enjoy…Essential Oil Bath Bomb DIY Recipe:

Having a nourishing morning routine is a great first step to developing healthy habits. In this post and video, I’ll be teaching you all about oil pulling, an Ayurvedic practice that is known for improving your oral health. But it has even broader benefits for whole body health, if you do it regularly. Learn about the benefits of oil pulling and how to do it here!
All this month I’ve been sharing my morning rituals with you, including a helpful meditative yoga practice and a pranayama breathing technique. Oil pulling is another useful practice you can add to the morning that is easy to do and only takes 10-20 minutes (and can be done while you’re multitasking with something else!). Seriously, there is nothing to lose and only health to gain, so I hope you’ll give it a try!

What are the Benefits of Oil Pulling?
Oil pulling is a panchakarma, one of the Ayurvedic cleansing techniques that is quite popular here in the U.S. because of its oral health benefits.
People have found that swishing their mouths with sesame and/or coconut oil reduces gum inflammation, bad breath, and helps to whiten teeth. This is because the oils help to manage the populations of plaque-forming bacteria in the mouth.
There’s even broader benefits than just supporting healthier tissue in the mouth. Streptococcus mutans, the main bacteria that causes problems in the mouth, can also cause plaque in the arteries, heart, lungs, brain, and can affect blood sugar metabolism. These problems start in the mouth with S. mutans getting into the bloodstream as the gums bleed from infection. So when you’re oil pulling, you’re preventing the spread of this bacteria through the body.
Oil pulling is a preventative health practice.
Oil pulling is also a better choice at cleaning the mouth than using conventional mouthwash. Most mouthwashes contain alcohol which kills ALL bacteria in the mouth, even the good bacteria. We need beneficial bacteria to protect our gut lining! These bacteria help form a solid defense against other microorganisms and are the major part of our immune system.
If you have allergies, autoimmune issues, or other forms of chronic disease, chances are your gut lining is already compromised. You need beneficial bacteria to protect the lining! Don’t kill them with alcohol mouthwashes!
Coconut oil, sesame oil, as well as several essential oils, have a chelating effect in the body. They bind to and pull out fat-soluble toxins like heavy metals & pesticides that accumulate in our body. Therefore, oil pulling can be an important detoxifying protocol that we could all find very useful since our environment is becoming increasingly toxic.
How to Oil Pull with Coconut, Sesame, and Essential Oils
Let’s teach you how to oil pull!
You’ll need:
1 T Coconut or sesame seed oil (1/2 T of each if combining)
1-3 drops dōTERRA therapeutic grade essential oils (I recommend Spearmint, Celery Seed, On Guard, or Turmeric)
Add the essential oils to the coconut and/or sesame seed oil on a spoon or in a cup. Put contents in your mouth, chew, press through teeth with your tongue, and swish in between all your teeth for 10-20 minutes.
When you’re done, be sure to spit out the oils into the trash. DO NOT SPIT THE OILS INTO YOUR SINK or you may create problems with your plumbing.
That’s it! Your oil pulling experience is done. It may take some practice and to get used to keeping the oils in your mouth without swallowing. You can always start out with a smaller about of oils until you get used to it.
What do you think of oil pulling now that you know the benefits and how easy it is to do? I’d love to hear about your experience in the comments!
There was a time in American history when essential oils were only used by traditional healers, massage therapists, and subculture flower children. But now, we have modern families, business owners, and even medical doctors using them in their homes and professions. Why is everyone so excited about essential oils these days?
Here are 5 reasons why I believe essential oils are back to stay! After reading them, you may decide to incorporate them into your lifestyle too!
Why essential oils popular?
1. We need alternative healthcare
Essential oil knowledge was lost when modern medicine became popular in the United States. This is because people used to think Western medicine was more evolved, and therefore should have greater respect. Some innovations, like life-saving surgeries and fertility procedures are truly miraculous. However, this standard of care is only focused on palliative measures. It doesn’t address the root cause of health imbalances. We need and expect more.
We’re realizing that Western Medicine is not making us healthier. We are wising up and asking:
WHY is this happening to me?
WHAT does my body need to be healthier?
HOW can I maintain health?
Nature, traditional medicines, alternative health practitioners, and your own intuition are the best guides.
Essential oils are gifts from nature that help support physiological functions, improve mood, control infections, and thereby add to our health.
2. Essential oils are effective alternatives to toxic products
We are living in a toxic soup that triggers many health problems in our population. Visit EWG.org to learn more about pesticides, herbicides, antibacterial agents, and other threats in our environment. They’re still legal in the U.S., even they disrupt hormones, destroy gut flora, decrease immunity, and cause cancer. Therefore, it’s up to manufacturers to remove them from their products or up to consumers to stop buying them.
Essential oils can clean our homes and bodies. Many families make their own home and personal care products using essential oils. There’s also some trusted companies who provide ready-made products using essential oils. These are safe and effective replacements to toxic conventional products found on grocery store shelves.
3. Essential oils have been used effectively for thousands of years
Did you know essential oils have been used from the beginning of history? Ancient Chinese, Indian, Greek, and Egyptian civilizations prized them for their beauty enhancing, spiritual, and therapeutic value. So even though they are new to Americans, that’s not so in the rest of the world.
Our culture is starting to respect older modalities like my profession of Chinese Medicine, as well as using Essential Oils. I would not call it a trend. Americans are just now seeing what has always been around – an awakening of sorts!
4. People want to feel empowered & resourceful with health choices
Many people these days don’t believe that “doctors know best”. It’s important to have a health practitioner as a guide or for a different perspective. However, most people have the awareness to know when they’re well or not though, and whether it’s an emergency. They know how to research and experiment with natural remedies and determine if they’re working.
Moms in particular, want to trust their instincts more. They want to be resourceful and feel empowered with their choices, just as our ancestors were. They know their children better than anyone else! It’s easy for them to use essential oils and they’re accepted well by their children. Experience shows them that essential oils work well to manage illness in the family and to boost their health.
5. There’s tons of research to support essential oil efficacy
Each year, hundreds of research studies validate essential oil efficacy. Here are just a few that show essential oils can improve one’s health naturally:
Certainly, the excitement behind essential oil use is backed by a compelling need! Do you want to try them out too? Visit my natural products page for more information on the oils I recommend. With over 20+ years of experience using them, I can help answer any questions you have as well!
Essential oils have been used all over the world for thousands of years, though not as much in the United States. Fortunately, we’re now starting to see them increase in popularity. This is mainly because essential oils have strong emotional health benefits and are safer alternatives to pharmaceutical drugs.
I love teaching others about the emotional benefits of the oils because there’s usually an emotional and energetic imbalance at the root of most health challenges. For example, emotions can severely affect gut health and immunity (see graphic below for details).
From Essentialemotions.org – how emotions affect your body
Essential oils do not remove negative emotions and imbalances. However, they do give is one space and perspective to shift emotions.
“Stagnant anger, sadness, grief, judgement, and low self-worth cannot exist in the environment of balance and peace which essential oils help to create.”
Each person can perceive essential oils differently. Even so, based on chemistry, the feelings in the image below can be evoked most of the time:
In my experience, the essential oils listed below seem to have the greatest power to transform our emotional lives.
How to Use Essential Oils for Emotional Health
Apply 1 drop over the heart area, inside the wrists, or behind the ear. Make sure you dilute the essential oils with a carrier oil first for children or people with sensitive skin. (Scroll to bottom of article for appropriate dilution ratio).
Essential Oils for Emotional Well-Being
1. Arborvitae – The Oil Of Divine Grace
Arborvitae (the “tree of life”) has long been used for meditation and spiritual connection. It’s name actually means “to sacrifice”. Likewise, this oil encourages one to surrender to the natural flow of the universe, live with grace, and trust that everything will work out as it should.
2. Bergamot – The Oil of Self-Acceptance
Bergamot challenges unhelpful core beliefs. It can lift individuals out of despair, self-judgement, and hopelessness. As a result, it provides optimism, confidence, and encourages self-love.
3. Cilantro – The Oil of Releasing Control
Cilantro is great at detoxifying the physical body. It also detoxifies harsh emotions as well. Cilantro clears what no longer serves them, creating ease as heavy burdens are lifted.
4. Cypress – The Oil of Motion & Flow
Cypress creates more flexibility in the heart and mind. Also, it promotes trust, adaptability, and emotional growth. This helps one move beyond fear and apprehension.
5. Geranium – The Oil of Love & Trust
Geranium addresses a huge spectrum of emotional issues that can arise from difficult life circumstances. It teaches about the innate goodness in others, helps breed positivity and restore trust in the world. Moreover, it nourishes our inner child, connecting to unconditional self-love.
6. Helichrysum – The Oil for Pain
Helichrysum heals wounds and is a powerful first aid agent. Similar to Geranium, it can help with emotional wounds too like difficult life circumstances, addiction, and abuse. Also, it helps the heart heal, and one feels more courageous, hopeful, and determined.
7. Lavender – The Oil of Communication
Lavender encourages us to express our emotions in an open and honest way. It fosters respectful relationships with others, satisfying our need to be heard.
8. Lime – The Oil of Zest for Life
We’ve all experienced the uplifting fragrance of Lime! This is the strongest oil for dealing with feelings of apathy, grief, and discouragement. Lime can help one feel grateful for life.
9. Myrrh – The Oil of Mother Earth
Myrrh helps one to feel safe in the world and form healthy attachments. Thereby, it fosters a deeper connection with one’s mother, helps women grow into the role of a mother, and to love others deeply.
10. Thyme – The Oil of Releasing & Forgiving
Thyme vents suppressed, trapped feelings. It helps one process hate, rage, anger, and resentment. As a result, there’s more space for forgiveness, tolerance, patience, and understanding.
In conclusion, there are several essential oils that can help you, or someone you care about, deal with emotional challenges. Thankfully, the Earth provides us with these safe and effective tools! We can rely on them without having to worry about damaging side effects and addiction, as we do with pharmaceutical drugs.
Know that essential oils brands are not all the same! Certainly, use Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils which have undergone rigorous testing. These brands guarantee purity and potency. You get the desired effect and your money’s worth. You can visit my Essential Oil website page for my recommendations.

Summer is a favorite season for many people, but it comes with certain challenges. Longer stretches of powerful sunlight, warm-weather pests, and eating unhealthy foods on family vacations are just some of things that can dampen one’s enthusiasm for summer fun. Be prepared with these essential oils for summer challenges to keep your family naturally healthy and happy all season long!
Do you have a family member who is a mosquito magnet? That would be me, in my family. So believe me, plant power is safer and equally effective at keeping them at bay than DEET-containing concoctions!
The recipe below incorporates dōTERRA Terrashield, which actually works fabulously on it’s own. The additional oils kick the power up a few notches.
Here’s a chart that can help you make your own version of this natural insect repellent:
Insect Bites & Stings
If pests get past your defenses, try these essential oil remedies to soothe the pain, itch, and swelling (from Modern Essentials, 8th edition):
Bee/Wasp/Hornet stings – After removing stinger, apply a cold compress of Roman Chamomile to the area for as long as possible.
Mosquito bites – apply lavender (diluted as recommended in chart at bottom) to the bites every few hours.
Spider bites – Dilute basil as recommended and apply as a cold compress to the area.
Tick bites – Don’t add oils to remove the tick or they may inject their toxin into the wound! Pull out the whole tick out close to the mouth without twisting. It’s wise to save the tick to get it, and the person bitten, examined by your doctor. Apply 1 drop of lavender to the wound every 5 minutes.
Natural Sunburn Relief
For minor sunburns, fill a 2 oz. bottle halfway with fractionated coconut oil or other carrier oil. Add in 7 drops of Lavender, 7 drops Frankincense, and 7 drops Peppermint. Top off with aloe vera juice. Be sure to shake well before spraying over the affected area.
Poison Oak
Though the red color on the “leaves of three” makes this plant more recognizable in the summer, avoiding it can still be tricky when it comes to kids and pets.
Rose, lavender, and Roman chamomile are all indicated for helping to relieve the itch. However, with conditions like this that ooze blisters, sometimes adding oil alone can spread the rash. You may want to look into combining the power of essential oils with a drying calamine lotion, or see an acupuncturist/Chinese herbalist for a drying solution like this one.
Indigestion
Eating heavily processed, greasy, and low quality foods at amusement parks or on the road can lead to an upset stomachs, gas, bloating, constipation, and/or diarrhea. DōTerra’s DigestZen blend can help immensely with all of these symptoms! Ginger, Fennel and peppermint are the main oils in this blend that help ease discomfort and can regulate the bowels. These oils have also been reported to help relieve food poisoning, stomach bugs, or motion sickness.
You may also consider increasing your whole food supplements to fill in any nutrition gaps, keeping your gut flora happy and your immune system working well while away from home.
Cooling down
Combine 2-3 drops of peppermint with 1/4 cup pure aloe vera and 1/4 cup witch hazel in a spray bottle. Shake well and mist body as needed to cool down which might be especially helpful at night to prevent restless sleep. This solution can also help easy sunburn discomfort.

In this article, I’m sharing the reasons why I chose doTERRA as my new business!
I know many friends (and maybe you too) are wondering “why is she prioritizing network marketing of essential oils over her main profession as a Licensed Acupuncturist?!”
Good question! It’s not because I have a failing acupuncture practice. I’m lucky to be in a place where I’m able to follow my passions and prioritize happiness. It turns out that my passion is not with building a big acupuncture practice, but with a business that helps me empower people to take charge of their own health.
Why I Chose doTERRA
I was introduced to dōTERRA 2 years ago by my friend Ashley who shares similar deep-rooted values with me. I love and trust her to the core, so I knew she was sharing something special with me. That first experience with dōTERRA essential oils at Ashley’s house turned my attention toward using their oils with my family at home and with clients in my practice.
I never intended to distribute the oils and natural products though. Obviously, I have changed my tune since then!
Here’s the main reasons why I took the plunge to start something new…
1. I love their purity and efficacy
I’ve used essential oils for over 20 years. However, it wasn’t until I started using dōTERRA that I realized the huge difference in quality among different brands. I had no idea that a label of 100% purity on oils at the health food store means nothing, and that they can still be diluted and adulterated.
DōTERRA created their own testing standards called Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade which go beyond the requirement for the Certified Organic label here in the U.S. This purity must be why the oils have been so effective for my family’s health issues. They work well for my acupuncture clients too, and are actually preferred over Chinese herbs to sustain the acupuncture effects in between treatments.
I’ve seen first hand how these oils help clear ear infections, relieve constipation, regulate menstruation, resolve pain, promote restful sleep, and much more.
2. I love their sustainability efforts
Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic compounds derived from plant parts. For just one 15 mL bottle of lavender, about 3 pounds of lavender flowers are needed. You can see that if we’re not careful, producing essential oils can threaten plant populations.
This concern was brought the magazine, Mother Earth Living in Sourcing Sustainable Essential Oils(May/June 2018). The author talked about spikenard, sandalwood, rosewood, atlas cedarwood, and frankincense, which are all endangered species. Then, she suggested one choose brands wisely to ensure they’re using sustainable farming practices. But to my horror recommended that everyone avoid all Multi-Level Marketing oil companies (like the model dōTERRA uses).
Setting the Story Straight
I was really upset with their blanket statement to avoid MLMs because dōTERRA’s sustainable farming practices is one of the major reasons I love them so! Immediately after reading the article, I wrote to the editor, expressing my concerns and how I feel they did not do enough research. I shared the video below on how dōTERRA is managing spikenard production very well and are completely transparent with their farming practices.
I was pleased to get a response just a few days later from the Editor-in-chief, Hannah Kincaid. This is what she had to say:
“Hi Brandy,
Thank you for sharing your perspective with us.
Our intention with this article is to bring awareness around the environmental impact of essential oil production and to encourage our readers to research essential oils thoroughly before purchasing – rather through traditional avenues, MLMs, or otherwise. Young Living is the MLM that we called out by name in the article because of their direct and documented abuse of endangered plant material for profit. I agree with you that doTERRA is world’s better in their policies.
It’s always a pleasure to hear from readers like yourself who are researching their products and the companies they support and are able to bring additional, interesting information to the conversation.”
I remain secure that dōTERRA has the Earth’s back.
3. I love the impact they’re making globally
DōTERRA’s is also committed to Co-Impact Sourcing and their global humanitarian efforts. They build up impoverished communities; provide them with clean water, schools, medical needs, jobs, fair wages, and whatever they need. Much of this is done through their Healing Hands charity which partners with other organizations such as those providing feminine hygiene, micro-credit lending, and combating sex trafficking.
Beginning in 2019, dōTERRA is opening several integrative health centers across the country. They’re providing patients with individualized, proactive care, bridging the gap between modern and alternative medicine. I’m behind this initiative 100%, as I see that these are the missing links in our current approach to health. Over 41,000 people have pre-registered for care at this point. You can register here.
5. I love the business model
You probably see by now why I chose to use doTERRA’s essential oils. But why am I doing the business?
My #1 priority in life right now is raising my son. As a homeschooling mom, I need a business that is adaptable. I want to work flexible hours, have zero overhead, and the potential to make more than what I was in the acupuncture clinic.
DōTERRA provides all of that, in addition to training us how to lead a team of Wellness Advocates who sign on with us as business partners. We actually get to choose who we want to work with!
I have grown tremendously since embarking on this journey. I learned how to communicate better, to be gently persistent with those who really need these oils in their lives, and to let go of my fear of judgement.
I’m still doing acupuncture on a very part-time basis and teaching yoga, but dōTERRA is my main focus. And with both acupuncture and yoga, I integrate the oils for the client’s/student’s experiences as well.
This business fell in my lap and I’m so grateful for the opportunity!
DōTERRA is the best business for me right now! It might fit you well too! Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like to learn about using the oilsor the business opportunity. We should all be doing hat lights us up in life. I can help guide you!
Menstruation is such fine-tuned wonder in women’s physiology. In this article, I teach you about using essential oils for menstruation. They’ll help you stay in touch with your body as you regulate your periods and avoid harmful medications.
Why Support Menstruation Naturally?
Regular periods with little-to-no-discomfort signify good health and fertility. Why don’t we celebrate this dance between hormones that help create potential new life? Yes, there is the inconvenience and possible mess. But the main reason most women dread their period is because pain and other symptoms of imbalance accompany it.
Treating symptoms with conventional medicine is challenging. Medical doctors do not have answers for women experiencing difficult periods other than birth control pills and pain medications. Both types of pharmaceuticals have major, negative, long-term side effects. It’s always best to consult with your doctor first to rule out any serious issues. Usually though, natural medicine is safer and more effective.
Essential Oils for Menstruation
For those seeking to manage the mild symptoms of menstruation naturally at home, essential oils are a fantastic option to explore. Below are the oils you’ll want to keep handy to manage the most common complaints. They’ll help during your flow, and also during the premenstrual phase and ovulation as well.
The essential oils can be used topically on the area of discomfort (3-4 drops diluted in ~ 1 T of carrier oil). They can also be diffused to help balance emotions that are often at the root of many physical complaints. Feel free to blend them together too!
A sweet, harmonizing oil, geranium has been used since ancient times for regulating menses and for menorrhagia (excessive blood loss during menstruation). It continues to be a valuable oil for PMS symptoms such as agitation, nervous tension, cramping, headaches, backaches, stressed-adrenals, etc. It can help resolve endometriosis as well.
Try this technique for painful or irregular periods:
Spread a drop of geranium on your foot arches, layer with castor oil, and cover with a sock. This covers important points in the Kidney and Spleen acupuncture channels on the foot that help regulate menstruation. The castor oil has an invigorating effect, helping to move blood & ease stagnation (which shows up as pain).
Mild cases: apply 2x/day for 10-14 days, then 1x/day for 30 more days
Moderate: apply 2x/day for 30 days, then 1x/day for 2 more months
Severe: apply 2x/day for 3-4 months, then 1x/day for 4-5 more months
Clary sage is regulating oil that is known for calming nerves and cooling inflammation. It helps with dysmenorrhea, PMS, headaches, frigidity, and depression. It also soothes the GI organs, resolving bloating and gas.
Ylang ylang is a sedative for the nervous system, yet a stimulant for the circulatory system. So, it’s very calming, yet invigorating for the blood and musculature. It relieves tension, improve libido, regulate hormonal balance, and can lift a woman’s spirit.
Everyone is familiar with lavender, as it’s considered one of most versatile essential oils available. It can help a woman immensely with menstrual discomfort. It’s indicated for PMS, headaches, migraines, cramps, depression, nervous tension, insomnia, and even gas.
Some of you may have heard that lavender has estrogenic effects and should be avoided by men. That is a myth addressed in this article by well-known Aromatherapist Robert Tisserand: Lavender Oil Is Not Estrogenic
Lavender does not have estrogenic effects, but fennel DOES. It can actually increase milk supply in mothers, is valuable in the transition to menopause, but should be avoided by pregnant women.
Women experiencing amenorrhea (skipped menstrual periods) as well as dysmenorrhea benefit from Fennel. It also helps with gastrointestinal problems many women experience during ovulation and menstruation such as constipation, stomachaches, nausea, and flatulence.
Roman chamomile is one of the safest essential oils, yet it is also potent and has a huge therapeutic range.
It helps cycling women with dysmenorrhea, headaches, migraines, nervous tension, and also with calming the mind and spirit. Thereby, it helps support a restful night sleep.
If you experience difficult periods, I hope you’ll consider using essential oils as a natural remedy to ease your discomfort. Perhaps you can appreciate this special time in your life even more. Essential oil brands differ greatly in quality and thereby efficacy though. You can view my recommendations here.
I’m eager to hear how essential oils are helping you manage your menses! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments! And if you enjoyed this article, please share with friends who can use this advice as well.
Even though essential oils have been used all over the world for thousands of years, they’re still unfamiliar to many modern Americans. Luckily for all, there is a new wave of interest . People are discovering that they do much more than offer a pleasing fragrance. Essential oils can support one’s physical, emotional, and mental health in a natural way, free of side effects and addictions. In this article, we’ll discuss the best essential oils for stress, a condition most of us need help with!
Recently, I’ve been working with a technique called Aroma Acupoint Therapy in my TCM clinic that combines essential oils with acupuncture points. I’m finding that the effects are so profound that for children & sensitive adults, this method is a fine substitute for acupuncture.
The treatment I do the most is for relieving tension and calming the spirit. If this is something you need too, then I highly suggest using the following oils alone or as a lovely blend.
All are safe used neat, in their concentrated form, if using on specific body points as I do with acupressure. But for beginners, it may be easier to dilute the oils in a carrier oil, such as fractionated coconut oil, to spread across a larger surface of the body. The bottom of the feet is a great place for topical application of these oils. This helps you ground your energy, relieve tension, and also activate many systemic reflexology points.
Or, simply place a few drops in a diffuser and let your brain’s olfactory perception of these oils help melt away the tension.
If you want to incorporate acupressure, download my free Stress Relieving Acupressure Guide for moms that can release your tension and improve your sleep (in as little as 10 minutes)! Use any of the oils below on these acupressure points to accentuate the treatment. I know you’ll love this guide!
This oil, derived from the rind of the fruit, has both calming and uplifting properties. It’s perfect for when one is feeling anxious or depressed. Like most citrus oils, you must stay out of sunlight, avoiding UV rays for up to 12 hours after topical application. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use it though! Just put the oil where the sun doesn’t shine or choose to diffuse it instead.
Lavender is one of the oldest oils, used by Romans & Egyptians when bathing, cooking, relaxing, and as a perfume. It’s a must-have for modern people who experience restless sleep. In addition to diffusing and spreading across the bottom of the feet, you can place a few drops on a cotton ball and place under your pillow when you’re ready to snooze.
It’s not just a tasty culinary herb! The essential oil of marjoram supports the nervous system, having a sedative effect and also eases sore muscles. Apply it to the back of the neck or wherever tension is showing up in your body. It’s especially effective for releasing tension in your body that might be keeping you awake at night, so would be great to put in an evening bath.
The chemical chamazulene creates the brilliant blue shade of Blue Tansy, also known as Moroccan Chamomile. Blue tansy can be diffused to uplift your mood or be massaged into the skin to relax muscular tension.
Cedarwood is a very grounding oil that can help move tense energy down and out from the neck, shoulders, and upper back when applied to the feet. You can create a calming ritual where you take a hot foot bath in epsom salts and then massage Cedarwood into your feet afterwards with fractionated coconut oil.
In order to receive the greatest benefit, it’s important to use “Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade” essential oils. Unfortunately, due to loose regulation, there are many oils on the market that have been adulterated even though the labels say they are 100% pure.
