How To Stop Worrying and Overthinking With Powerful Holistic Healing Methods

Worry is a common emotion that touches all of us at some point in our lives. Whether it’s concern over our health, finances, relationships, or the uncertainties of the future, worry has a way of creeping into our minds and taking hold. In this post, we’ll explore how worry impacts our health on multiple levels and how we can harness the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), energy healing, and spiritual practices to not only manage but transform this emotion. By integrating these holistic approaches, you can stop worrying and overthinking, and cultivate a life of greater peace, purpose, and well-being.

Holistic Approaches to Stop Worrying and Overthinking

Many of us struggle with worry and the tendency to overthink, and they can easily become part of our personality, impacting our lives in significant ways. But don’t worry (pun intended), because in this post, I’m going to share powerful holistic healing methods to help you shift out of these patterns.

Understanding Worry and Overthinking in TCM

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), worry and overthinking are associated with the Earth element and the Spleen and Stomach organs. As we transition into Late Summer, this energy can become imbalanced, leading to digestive issues and emotional turmoil.

But did you know that gut health and emotional health are deeply connected? When our gut is out of balance, it can lead to increased worry and overthinking. Similarly, these emotions can also disrupt our digestive system. It’s a cycle that needs to be broken for holistic well-being.

The Emotional and Physical Impact of Worry

Worry is often entangled with fear and doubt. When we worry, we try to control situations, thinking that it might help. However, this often just leads to more stress and emotional imbalance. This is especially true for those with an Earth element personality in TCM—people who are nurturing but may become overly involved in the lives of others, neglecting their own health.

Physically, worry can cause energy to get stuck in the body, leading to digestive issues like stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and even weight gain. It can also interfere with sleep, making it difficult to fall asleep initially, though persistent sleep issues are more related to the Heart energy and the Fire element.

Differentiating Worry from Anxiety

It’s important to note the difference between worry and anxiety. While both can feel overwhelming, they manifest differently in the body. Worry tends to make us feel stuck, with energy circling and not draining properly, affecting the digestive system. Anxiety, on the other hand, is more related to the Fire element and the Heart, causing energy to rise, leading to overexcitement and restlessness.

Holistic Healing Methods To Stop Worrying and Overthinking

So, how can we treat worry and overthinking holistically? Here are some methods that I highly recommend:

1. Chinese Medicine:

  • Acupuncture: Supports the Spleen and Stomach, drains excess energy, and promotes digestion and emotional balance.
  • Diet: Adjusting your diet to support gut health, especially during Late Summer, is crucial. Incorporate probiotics and avoid foods that create Dampness.
  • Herbal Medicine: Concentrated, powerful foods that support digestion and balance energy & emotions.
  • Qigong & Energy Healing: Self-cultivated or projected (from a practitioner) practices using posture, breath, visualizations, and intention to mobilize and balance energy.
  • Tuina massage & acupressure: move stuck energy and restore balance with skilled manual techniques.
