So many people experience anxiety these days. It’s one of the biggest reasons, besides pain, that people seek alternative health treatments. This is because the pharmaceutical drugs indicated for anxiety have numerous side effects and don’t treat the root cause. I have many practices and tools that help keep anxiety at bay, but one natural anxiety relief treatment stands out: auriculotherapy with ear seeds. Read on or watch the video below to learn how to reduce anxiety naturally with ear seeds and start using them on yourself at home!
If your anxiety is mild, then treating yourself at home is a wonderful option. I have many videos and blog posts about stress and anxiety already. A recent one is how to relieve anxiety with Qigong. I have a stress-relieving acupressure guide that you can download which is appropriate for anxiety too. And I have a lot of yoga practices & meditations that will help too.
Using ear seeds may be the most appealing and the easiest to follow of all my tools though. This is because they help you the whole time they’re on your ear, and you can wear them for up to 5 days. That’s 5 days of treating yourself! So if consistency is an issue for you with natural treatments, then you’ll definitely want to consider trying ear seeds.
I have a simple ear acupressure point protocol for anxiety that I’m going to share with you, in addition to telling you how to get ear seeds.
But first…
What Are Ear Seeds And How Do They Work?
We use actual flower seeds from the Vaccaria plant which is a well-known herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Or we use stainless steel beads or 24 karat gold these are on a medical adhesive that we place on the ears (some decorated with Swarovski crystals or other embellishments).

Ear seeds are placed on ear acupressure points with medical adhesive. They provide continuous mild pressure on ear acupressure points that refer to certain areas of the body. The he ear is actually a microcosm of the body depicted as an upside down baby (very similar to hand or foot reflexology).

For those wanting the science: ear seeds stimulate the vagus nerve and communicate with the brain to offer healing in that area. Auriculotherapy (the name for acupressure or acupuncture on the ear) is backed by a ton of research – just Google it if interested.
It’s also an ancient TCM practice with the focus of treating energetic imbalances. That’s how I always like to look at it – clearing energetic blockages, tonifying energy in the organs and channels, regulating energy circulation in our whole system, and helping one feel more whole in body, heart, mind, and spirt.
As an acupuncturist, I love putting Ear seeds on clients to sustain the effects of our treatments, but they’re also great to use alone, and anyone can use them at home.
Ear Seed Protocol For Anxiety
Before applying ear seeds, you’re first going to want to clean the ear use alcohol just to make sure that there are no oils on the ear which may interfere with how well they stick
Use tweezers to apply (or an ear probe, for those of you practitioners out there).
You’ll place the ear seeds on the following points in the diagram. See the video above for a demonstration.
It takes some practice to do on yourself, but you’ll get the hang of it. You can always get a family member to put them on you instead like I do in the video for my son.

You should notice a difference in your energy soon after you apply them. Stimulate them a few times a day, just about 30 seconds each with your finger, round-rubbing.
It’s best to leave ear seeds on for 3-5 days. After taking them off, let your ears rest for a day before applying again.
Which Ear Seeds Should I Get?
I’ve using the original brand of Ear Seeds for several years now. I am an affiliate for this family-owned company since I believe in their products so much.
There are kits specific for certain conditions. But it’s best to get one of the multi-condition kits like this one which have numerous protocols in them since you’ll probably be wanting to treat more than anxiety once you see how effective these are.

I hope you found this post interesting, friend! I would love to hear about your experiences with ear seeds, in the comments below.
