I’m so glad you’re here! My name is Brandy Falcon and I want to share my passion for natural health with you!
Twenty years ago, I made the biggest shift my life that propelled me along my wellness journey.
I was in a very stable job as a Biotech Researcher, making more money than any of my friends. It wasn’t enough to keep me happy though and I felt like I was on the verge of a breakdown. I was experiencing sleep issues and physical tension. Feelings of shame started to grow in my heart everyday and I was working to create popular household products that added to the toxic soup Americans are now swimming in.
Why did I study Biology in the first place? It was because I loved life. I loved the beauty of the Earth. And I was intrigued about the mystery that animates all living creatures. I needed to reconnect with Nature and remove myself from this industrial system I didn’t believe in.
180 Degree Turn to Holistic Health & The Healing Arts
While I was still working in the lab, I tried to find balance in my life by enrolling in a Massage Therapy program. The great amount of personal development was a nice surprise as I helped other people find comfort in their bodies.
Around the same time, I started to practice Yoga with Julianne Rice at the Center for Spiritual Enlightenment in San Jose, CA. I fell in love with the practice and the philosophy of Yoga which, similar to Biology, is all about life. Biology explains the physical relationship of systems of life on this planet. But Yoga explains more about WHY we are on this planet and our spiritual interconnectedness. I longed to teach as an extension of my practice
I completed 2 Yoga teacher trainings over the next few years: Yoga Educational Seminars (YES) with Joyce Anue and several talented Bay Area instructors in 2002 and a Yin Yoga teacher training with Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley in 2005. It was actually at the Yin Yoga training when I realized that the reason I loved it so much was because of the Taoist Philosophy Sarah and Paul shared as part of the practice.
Following my heart again, I finally made the decision to leave my job in Biotech to get my Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2006. I wanted to learn more about Taoist philosophy and I was eager to integrate all that I’d done with massage & Yoga, which I knew would make me a well-rounded practitioner.
How did I know I was on the right path? Everything in my life started to fall into place:
- I became a very confident and skilled Acupuncturist in the clinic.
- The allergies that I’d endured since I was ~ 7 years old disappeared by the end of my schooling. No doubt it was because of acupuncture, herbs, and eating a whole food diet.
- I started taking steps to heal from Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis as my faith in natural health remedies and in my body grew. I started to stand up to my doctor and avert my attention from conventional dietary & medical advice. Read more about my healing journey here.
- I attracted a large following in my Yoga classes.
- My relationships grew stronger.
When I graduated in 2009 I was a newlywed and also a few months pregnant. I passed the TCM licensing exam with no problem, but started feeling that tugging at my heart again. This wasn’t the right time to build a business. I wanted to nest. And when I had my son, it became clear that raising this boy to be a highly functioning, compassionate young man would be the most important job I could ever do.
Natural Health & Wellness Is My Priority
You’ve probably gathered so far that I live very intentionally and am clear on what I’m doing and why. Whenever I’ve listened to authority figures who preach popular advice that goes against what my heart & gut say, there has always been a challenging lesson learned. I’ve had no regrets though, as these lessons validated the strength of my intuition.
For this reason, I’ve embraced a natural lifestyle that feels most authentic. We eat organic foods and use Chinese herbs, acupressure, whole food supplements & essential oils to stay healthy. I homeschool my son because (big lesson learned that public school was not for us!) it is better for his mental & emotional health.
My Life Today & How We Can Work Together
I am so grateful every day to have a life I love. I’ve managed to create a work-life balance that suits my family well. I still loving teaching yoga and see a limited number of acupuncture clients in their homes. Interestingly, my most influential work is through my home business where I connect families with natural health tools and empower them to make their own health choices.
Please connect with me here on my blog! Hopefully at some point I can help bring natural tools into your home and teach you how to use them, even if you live across the country! I can even show you how to be a Wellness Advocate like me if you want to provide your family with some income while boosting their health and educating your community about proactive care.
However we can be together would be wonderful. I am truly grateful that you are seeking wellness for yourself. Any positive changes you make in your life will be felt by those you relate to and that is how we can build a strong, healthy, holistic, global community.
Wishing you all the best in your own journey…
